【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시가 최근 지역 내에서 연이어 발생한 방진마스크 및 방역복 대리구매 사기 시도 사건과 관련해 시민들에게 각별한 주의를 당부했다.

충주시청 축수산과 이청기 가축방역팀장에 따르면 지난 10월 24일 오후 5시경, 충주 시내 한 철물점에 “방진마스크를 대리 구매하겠다”는 연락이 있었으나, 실제 구매로 이어지지 않는 1차 ‘노쇼사기’가 발생했다.

이어 같은 날, “방역복 4천만 원 상당을 납품 대리구매하겠다”는 2차 시도가 잇따랐다. 

이들은 계약금 10% 송금을 요구하며 지정계좌로 입금을 유도했으나, 담당 직원이 외부 사칭 가능성을 인지해 즉시 거래를 중단하고 경찰과 통신사에 사실 확인을 요청하면서 추가 피해를 막은 것으로 확인됐다.

충주시 축수산과에서는 이번 사건 이후 통신사와 한국인터넷진흥원(KISA)이 운영하는 ‘번호도용 문자방지 서비스”를 신청했다.

이 서비스는 타인이 인터넷을 통해 개인 휴대전화 번호를 도용해 스팸·스미싱 메시지를 발송하는 행위를 차단하는 무료 공공서비스로, 시는 관내 유관기관과 업체에도 적극적인 이용을 권장하고 있다.

시는 이번 사건을 통해 지역 유통질서와 공공기관 신뢰를 악용한 신종 사기 수법이 확인된 만큼, 시민들의 적극적인 신고와 주의를 당부했다.

시 관계자는“이번 사례는 단순 해프닝이 아닌, 실제 거래망을 노린 지능형 노쇼 사기 수법”이라며 “거액의 상품 구매 요청이 있을 경우, 실제 구매 의사와 신분이 확인되기 전까지 어떠한 금전 거래나 물품 인도도 해서는 안 된다”고 강조했다.

또한 “대리구매나 계좌이체를 요구하는 사례는 노쇼 사기일 가능성이 높으므로 반드시 신분증·소속·연락처 등을 확인한 뒤 거래를 진행해 달라”고 덧붙였다.

한편, 관련 피해가 의심될 경우 경찰(112) 또는 충주시 축수산과로 즉시 신고하면 된다.

Chungju City has issued a warning to citizens regarding a recent string of fraudulent attempts to purchase protective masks and protective clothing on behalf of residents.

They also added, "Cases requesting proxy purchases or bank transfers are highly likely no-show scams. Please verify the identity, affiliation, and contact information before proceeding with any transaction."
