【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충북 보은군은 2025년도 공공하수도 운영·관리 실태평가에서 금강유역환경청 우수기관으로 선정됐다고 27일 밝혔다.

군에 따르면 기후에너지환경부는 매년 공공하수도의 운영 경쟁력과 관리 효율성 강화를 위해 실태평가를 실시하고 있다. 전국 160여 개 지방자치단체를 인구수에 따라 4개 그룹으로 분류해 △공통 △운영관리 △정책 등 3개 분야 31개 항목(안전관리 대응능력, 시설 유지관리, 수질관리, 하수도보급률, 탄소중립 실천 등)으로 평가했으며, 이중 우수기관 23개 지자체를 선정했다.

이번 평가에서 보은군은 하수도 안전관리 대응, 기술진단 지적사항 개선, 공공하수도 관리대행 효율화, 하수처리 효율, 소규모 공공하수처리시설 운영관리 등 여러 분야에서 높은 평가를 받은 것으로 나타났다.

군은 하수도 운영 전반의 안정성과 신뢰성을 높이기 위해 현장 점검 강화, 시설 유지관리 체계 개선, 운영 인력 역량 향상 등 기본 요소부터 내실 있게 추진해 왔다. 이러한 노력이 더해지며 행정과 현장의 대응 수준이 균형 있게 향상된 것이 이번 성과로 이어졌다는 평가다.

특히 중앙감시제어시스템을 활용한 무인 소규모 공공하수처리시설의 체계적인 관리가 우수 평가에 큰 역할을 한 것으로 분석된다.

최재형 보은군수는“공공수역 환경개선과 공중위생 보전을 위해 공공하수도 운영·관리에 최선을 다해주신 직원 여러분께 감사하다”며 “이번 평가결과를 토대로 앞으로도 지속 가능한 청정 환경이 보전되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

한편 보은군은 올해 기후에너지환경부에서 추진한 ‘공공폐수처리시설 운영·관리 실태평가’에서도 우수 지자체에 선정되는 등, 환경 분야에서 꾸준한 성과를 이어가고 있어 향후 친환경·안전 중심의 지역 행정 추진에 더욱 탄력이 붙을 전망이다.
