【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=청주시의회가 지역 청소년들에게 지방의회의 역할과 민주적 의사결정 과정을 생생하게 배울 수 있는 체험의 장을 마련했다.

청주시의회는 6일 오후 본회의장에서 한국교원대학교 부설고등학교 학생 9명이 참여한 가운데 청소년 의회체험활동을 진행했다. 이번 프로그램은 학생들이 토론과 협의를 통해 정책이 입안되는 과정을 직접 경험하며 민주시민으로서의 소양과 공동체 의식을 높일 수 있도록 기획됐다.

이날 행사에 참여한 학생들은 의장, 의원, 사무국 직원 등 각자의 역할을 나누어 맡아 실제 본회의와 동일한 절차로 모의의회를 진행했다. 3분 자유발언 순서에서는 황새 서식지 보전 방안부터 충북 공연문화 활성화, 유동광고물 관리, 기초학력 및 문해력 지원 등 지역사회와 교육 현장에 밀접한 안건들이 다루어졌다. 이어 관련 조례안 발의와 제안설명, 찬반토론, 전자표결까지 이어지는 의사결정 전 과정을 직접 수행했다.

이외에도 학생들은 의회 홍보영상 시청과 본회의장 견학을 통해 지방의회의 주요 기능과 시민의 목소리가 정책으로 반영되는 지방자치의 구체적인 작동 원리를 익혔다.
