【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시가 일본의 우호도시인 무사시노시와의 지속적인 교류와 미래 인재 육성을 위해 추진한 청소년 연수단 홈스테이 프로그램을 성공적으로 마쳤다.

충주시와 무사시노시는 지난 1997년 우호교류 협정을 맺은 이후 꾸준히 신뢰를 쌓아왔으며, 2007년부터는 양 도시 청소년들이 격년으로 서로를 방문하는 국제교류 프로그램을 운영하며 대표적인 미래 지향적 협력 관계를 유지해 왔다.

중·고교 학생 12명과 시 관계자 3명 등 총 15명으로 구성된 충주시 청소년 연수단은 4박 5일간의 일정으로 일본 무사시노시를 찾아 현지 문화를 체험했다. 연수단은 일정 가운데 2박 3일 동안 현지 가정에 머무는 홈스테이를 통해 일본의 일상생활과 문화를 직접 경험했다. 연수 참가자들은 현지 또래 학생들과 교류하며 서로의 문화를 깊이 이해하는 시간을 가졌고, 무사시노시가 준비한 다양한 체험 프로그램에 참여하며 세계시민으로서의 역량을 다졌다.

이정인 충주시 기획예산과장은 홈스테이가 단순한 해외 견학을 넘어 타 문화를 직접 체득하고 글로벌 리더로 성장하는 뜻깊은 계기가 되었다며, 앞으로도 지역 청소년들이 넓은 안목을 키울 수 있도록 다채로운 국제교류 기회를 계속 확대해 나가겠다고 강조했다.

한편 내년 여름에는 무사시노시 청소년 연수단이 충주를 방문해 지역 청소년 가정에서 홈스테이를 진행하며 두 도시 간의 우호 교류를 지속해서 이어갈 예정이다.

Since signing a friendship exchange agreement in 1997, Chungju City and Musashino City have steadily built trust. Since 2007, they have maintained a representative future-oriented cooperative relationship by operating an international exchange program in which youth from both cities visit each other every other year.

The Chungju City youth training group, consisting of a total of 15 people—12 middle and high school students and 3 city officials—visited Musashino, Japan, for a 4-night, 5-day itinerary to experience local culture.
