영동군은 영동읍 회동리 일원에 추진 중인 충북권 국립보훈요양원 건립 사업이 최근 중간설계를 완료하는 등 후속 절차가 원활히 진행되고 있다고 밝혔다.

충북권 국립보훈요양원은 지하 1층, 지상 4층에 100병상 규모로 조성될 예정이다. 총사업비는 국비 379억 원이 투입되며 국가보훈부가 사업을 주관하고 한국보훈복지의료공단이 시설 건립과 향후 운영 전반을 담당한다. 내부에는 전문적인 요양서비스 제공을 위한 요양실과 함께 프로그램실, 물리치료실, 심리치료실 등 다양한 맞춤형 의료 및 복지 편의시설이 구비된다.
