【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=진천군이 제81주년 광복절을 맞아 조국의 자주독립을 위해 몸 바친 독립유공자의 숭고한 희생정신을 기리고, 그 유가족들에게 깊은 감사와 존경의 뜻을 전하는 자리를 만들었다.

진천군은 11일 지역 내에 거주하는 독립유공자 유족과 배우자 등 17명을 초청해 오찬간담회를 열고 따뜻한 위로와 격려의 시간을 가졌다.

이번 간담회는 일제의 무단 통치와 국권 침탈에 맞서 싸우다 옥고를 치르거나 순국해 건국훈장, 건국포장, 대통령 표창 등을 받은 독립유공자의 후손들을 모시기 위해 준비됐다. 현재 진천군에는 총 9명의 독립유공자 유족이 살아가고 있다.

간담회에 참석한 유족들과 광복회원들은 광복의 역사적 의미를 되새기는 한편, 보훈 가족의 애로사항을 전달하고 지역 보훈 문화 확산을 위한 다양한 의견을 교환했다.

김명식 진천군수는 현장 인터뷰를 통해 "조국의 독립과 민족의 자주성을 지키기 위해 모든 것을 바치신 독립선열들과 그 유가족분들의 헌신에 깊은 감사와 경의를 표한다"며 "국가와 공동체를 위해 희생한 분들이 사회적으로 존중받고 자긍심을 가질 수 있도록 예우와 지원 정책을 한층 강화하고, 숭고한 보훈 정신이 지역사회에 깊이 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

간담회에 참석한 한 광복회원 역시 인터뷰에서 "해마다 잊지 않고 독립운동에 헌신한 선열들의 뜻을 정성껏 기려주는 진천군에 감사하다"며 "독립유공자 가문으로서의 자부심을 가슴에 품고 지역 발전을 위해 함께 힘을 보태겠다"고 소감을 전했다.

진천군은 앞으로도 독립유공자 유가족을 위한 복지 지원을 지속적으로 확대하고, 숭고한 애국정신을 후대에 전승하기 위한 보훈 기념사업을 다각도로 펼쳐나갈 방침이다.

To mark the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day, Jincheon County organized an event to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of independence patriots who devoted their lives to the independent sovereignty of their homeland, and to express deep gratitude and respect to their bereaved families.

On the 11th, Jincheon County invited 17 individuals, including bereaved families and spouses of independence patriots residing in the region, to a luncheon meeting to offer warm comfort and encouragement.

This meeting was organized to welcome the descendants of independence patriots who received awards such as the Order of Merit for National Foundation, the Medal for National Foundation, and the Presidential Commendation for fighting against the Japanese imperialist rule and the usurpation of national sovereignty, enduring imprisonment or martyrdom. Currently, a total of nine bereaved families of independence patriots live in Jincheon County.
