Okcheon County Governor Hwang Gyu-cheol Strengthens Communication with Frontline Civil Complaint Handlers… Listening to On-Site Grievances and Seeking Measures to Protect Emotional Labor

Okcheon County has embarked on a communication initiative to improve working conditions by listening to the voices from the field of civil complaint officials who meet residents directly on the front lines of civil administration.

On the 28th, Okcheon County held a communication meeting attended by Governor Hwang Gyu-cheol and approximately 30 civil complaint officials to listen to on-site difficulties and reflect them in county administration.

This meeting was organized to share the grievances and work stress experienced in the field due to the recent continuous increase in unusual complaints, and to explore ways to create a safe working environment and protect and support civil complaint handlers.

Attendees agreed on the need to establish a system capable of effectively responding to verbal abuse or repetitive malicious complaints, and exchanged opinions from various angles regarding the development of practical support measures to safeguard the safety and rights of the officials in charge.

Okcheon County Governor Hwang Gyu-cheol expressed deep empathy for the difficulties faced by public officials during the civil complaint processing process, emphasizing that civil complaint administration is the starting point of administration and a core element in determining trust in the county government, as it is the first public service residents experience firsthand.

He further noted that for residents, civil complaints are often not merely simple inquiries but urgent requests to resolve daily inconveniences and difficulties. He urged public officials to go beyond simply conveying regulations and instead adopt an attitude of listening from the residents' perspective, explaining matters in an easy-to-understand manner, and providing responsible guidance.

Okcheon County plans to thoroughly review the on-site difficulties and suggestions presented at this meeting to reduce the workload of civil complaint staff and enhance their response capabilities. Furthermore, based on continuous communication with civil complaint staff, the county intends to consistently provide "heartwarming" civil complaint services that prioritize the residents' perspectives.
