【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시가 오는 9월 4일부터 6일까지 열리는 충주 국가유산 야행 기간에 맞춰 충주읍성 발굴조사 현장을 전격 공개하고 관련 역사 체험 프로그램을 진행한다.

국원문화유산연구원이 주관하고 충주시와 충주문화관광재단이 후원하는 이번 행사는 조선시대 조선왕조실록을 보관했던 최초의 외사고인 충주사고의 위치를 고증하고, 그동안의 학술 조사 성과를 시민과 방문객들에게 알리기 위해 기획됐다.

충주시는 2024년부터 관아공원 인근 충주사고 추정 지역을 중심으로 발굴조사를 이어왔다. 그 결과 고려시대부터 조선시대에 걸친 대형 기와건물지와 전축수조가 확인됐다. 이와 함께 '관' 자가 새겨진 명문기와, 연화문·일휘문 막새, 서조문 전 등 주요 유물이 잇따라 출토되면서 해당 일대가 충주읍성의 핵심 공간이었음이 밝혀졌다.

이번 야행 행사에서는 그동안 문헌으로만 전해지던 충주사고와 충주읍성의 실물을 직접 확인할 수 있도록 현장이 전면 개방된다. 아울러 '조선왕조실록과 충주사고'를 주제로 한 나만의 실록 만들기, 사고 봉안 행렬 스크래치 아트, 스탬프 투어 등 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 참여형 프로그램과 충주시 캐릭터를 활용한 한정판 기념품 증정 이벤트도 함께 운영된다.
