제천시는 3일 제천예술의전당 여름광장에서 영화제 개막식을 열고 대장정의 시작을 알렸다. 본 행사에 앞서 진행된 레드카펫 행사에는 영화계 주요 감독과 배우, 인사들이 참석해 제천의 밤을 화려하게 수놓았다. 홍보대사를 맡은 안재홍을 비롯해 김설현, 김의성, 다현, 박소담, 손호준, 송중기, 심은경, 엄태구, 유해진, 이엘, 장영남, 전석호, 정건주 등 대중의 사랑을 받는 배우들이 레드카펫을 밟아 관객들의 뜨거운 환호를 받았다. 아울러 박찬욱, 김종관, 김홍준, 장철수, 정지영, 하명중 감독 등 저명한 영화인들도 대거 동참했다.
