이번 사업은 복권기금 재원과 군비를 활용해 농촌지역의 주거 환경을 개선하고 삶의 질을 높이기 위해 마련됐다. 군은 총사업비 17억 4000만 원을 투입해 삼성면 대사리와 감곡면 문촌1리 등 관내 7개 마을 일원의 노후 상수관로 6.2㎞를 전면 교체할 예정이다.

사업 대상은 누수나 단수 현상이 빈번하게 발생했던 지역들을 우선 선정했으며, 정비 공사를 차질 없이 진행해 올해 안으로 모든 공정을 마무리한다는 목표다. 음성군은 지난해에도 16억여 원의 예산을 들여 감곡면 문촌5리와 사곡3리 등 3개 마을의 수도시설을 개량하고 6.1km에 달하는 노후관 정비를 마친 바 있다.

노후 관로 교체가 완료되면 급수 지역 간 물 공급 불균형이 해소되고 출수 불량이나 수질 오염 우려 없이 깨끗한 생활용수가 각 가정에 안정적으로 공급될 것으로 보인다.
