【브레이크뉴스 충북】임창용 기자=충북 괴산군이 14일 군청 중회의실에서 괴산군 국제안전도시 공인사업 기본조사 연구용역 중간보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

국제안전도시란 1989년 9월 스웨덴 스톡홀름에서 열린 ‘제1회 사고와 손상 예방학술대회’에서 발표된 ‘모든 인류는 건강하고 안전한 삶을 누릴 권리를 가진다’는 선언에 기초해 사회 구성원 모두가 지속적으로 안전해지기 위해 노력하는 도시를 일컫는다.

현재 전 세계적으로 40개국 4백여 개 도시가 국제안전도시로 공인됐고, 국내에는 21개 도시가 지정돼 있다.

국제안전도시 공인을 위한 사전준비를 위해 중원대학교 산학협력단(책임연구 이상열 교수)과 1차 용역을 진행 중인 괴산군은, 보고회에 앞서 이차영 괴산군수, 안미선 괴산군의원, 김한철 괴산경찰서장, 박영철 괴산증평교육지원청 교육장, 김선관 괴산소방서장, 경한호 대한노인회괴산군지회장, 엄성윤 괴산군어린이집연합회장 등 18명을 안전도시위원회 위원으로 위촉했다.

중간보고회에서는 지난해 11월부터 추진 중인 국제안전도시 공인 사업 기본조사연구용역의 진행 상황을 점검했다.

군은 이번 용역을 통해 지난 2019년부터 추진 중인 5개년 계획을 차질 없이 진행하고 2023년 국제안전도시 공인을 선포할 계획이다.

이상열 교수는 “연구 용역을 진행하며 수집한 괴산군 기본통계자료를 통해 사망원인, 각종 사고발생 현황 분석을 완료했다”며 “이번 분석자료를 토대로 남은 기간 괴산군의 지역적 특성을 고려해 중장기 안전증진 프로그램과 사업지표 개발에 나설 계획”이라고 말했다.

이차영 괴산군수는 “이번 용역을 통해 괴산군의 지역적 특성이 반영된 군민 안전을 위한 정책과 프로그램, 각종 맞춤형 사업을 발굴할 것”이라며 “괴산군민 누구나 안전하고 건강하게 생활할 수 있는 기반을 조성하고 삶의 질 향상을 통한 정주여건 개선에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

Lee Cha-young, head of Goesan-gun said, “Through this service, we will discover policies and programs for the safety of the military and various customized projects that reflect the regional characteristics of Goesan-gun. I will try to improve the living conditions through quality improvement.”
