【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=대한민국 배구발전의 선봉장 역할을 맡고 있는 유금식 단양군 배구협회장(68)이 충북 배구협회 비상대책위원장으로 만장일치 추대됐다.

단양군은 지난달 30일 청주 충북체육회관에서 열린 충북 배구협회 비상대책 회의에서 상임위원 24명 중 참석한 18명 전원이 찬성표를 던져 유 회장이 비상대책위원장(이하 ‘위원장’)으로 선출됐다고 밝혔다.

향후 유 위원장은 현재 공석인 충북배구협회장을 대신해 충북배구협회를 총괄하고 이끌어 가게 된다.

2007년 단양군 배구협회장에 취임한 유 위원장은 이후 충청북도 배구협회 부회장, 충청북도 생활체육협회 부회장, 한국중고배구연맹 부회장, 충청북도체육회 이사 등을 역임했다.

현재는 충청북도배구협회 감사, 한국중고배구연맹 자문위원, 한국 대학연맹부회장, 대한배구협회 상임이사 등 다수의 중책을 맡고 있을 만큼 그의 뛰어난 추진력과 꼼꼼한 업무 능력은 정평이 났다.

그의 이런 열정은 충북 단양군을 전국에서 가장 많은 배구대회를 유치하는 자치단체이자 배구의 메카로 거듭나게 하고 있다.

배구대회를 유치하는 것은 물론 매년 청소년 대표팀, 실업팀, 국가대표팀 등 배구팀들이 단양으로 전지훈련을 오는 데에도 구심점 역할을 하고 있다.

오는 14일과 15일, 16일과 17일에는 대한민국배구협회장기 전국 교육대학 배구대회와 전국생활체육대회 겸 전국생활체육대축전이 단양에서 개최되며, 2000명의 배구인들이 지역을 방문할 예정이다.

유 위원장은 “상임위원들의 적극적인 지지로 중책을 맡게 됐다”며, “시대에 맞는 소통의 리더십으로 새로운 임원 선출을 통해 선수 처우개선 및 배구 저변확대에 노력해 충북 배구협회를 전국 최고의 협회로 만들겠다”고 말했다.
