【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시의회(의장 박해수)가 4박 6일간의 스페인 출장을 성공적으로 마치고 16일 귀국했다.

충주는 지난해 12월 충청북도에서 유일하게 대한민국 문화도시 예비사업 도시로 선정되었으며, 이에 충주시의회는 본사업 최종 선정을 위해 그동안 각고의 노력을 기울여왔다. 

지난해 추진된 미국 문화교류 활동에 이어지는 이번 스페인 출장 또한, 그러한 노력의 일환으로서 근 2년간의 준비기간을 지닌 장기 프로젝트로 계획되었다.

박해수 의장을 비롯한 17명의 충주시의회 교류단은 레우스시와 우호교류 협약을 체결하고, 레우스를 대표하는 문화축제인 「Festival of Saint Peter」에서 사물놀이 몰개의 한국 전통 문화 공연을 펼치며 문화교류의 시작을 열었다.

그 외에도 방문기간동안 충주와 비슷한 인구 규모의 중소도시인 타라고나, 알타푸야, 포블라 마푸메트의 시청 및 도심지를 견학하며 도시계획 및 문화·관광·교육 분야의 모범사례를 파악했으며, 

바르셀로나의 Santa Caterina와 CCCB, MACBA 등 세계적인 도시재생지구 성공사례를 견학하며 충주 여건에 맞는 개발 전략을 모색했다.

충주시의회는 이번 국외 출장을 통해 레우스시와의 교류를 확대하고 우호 관계를 강화했으며, 출장 내용을 바탕으로 원도심 재생과 산업단지 개발, 교육 분야 지원 정책 개발의 방향성을 정립했다.

박해수 의장은 “우호 교류 협약이 성공적으로 체결되어 기쁘게 생각하며, 앞으로도 레우스시와 다양한 분야에서 협력하며 공동의 번영을 이룰 수 있기를 바란다”라고 말했다.
