【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=제43회 설성문화제가 27일부터 28일까지 음성종합운동장 일원에서 ‘음성다움, 음성의 색을 찾다’라는 주제로 문을 연다.

설성(雪城)문화제는 민족 문화의 정체성을 확립하고 젊은이에게 우리 문화에 관한 관심을 유도하기 위해 전국적으로 지역문화축제가 전개되던 1980년대 초인 1982년도에 처음 개최됐다.

여기서 ‘설성’이란 안성시(죽산), 이천시(음죽), 음성군과 괴산군 일원을 아우르는 옛 지명을 말한다. 지리적 위치에서 알 수 있듯이 설성문화제는 음성군이 안성-이천-괴산(증평)을 포용하고 문화를 선도하는 중심 도시로 나아가겠다는 의미를 담고 있다.

이번 설성문화제는 △음성의 전통 △음성의 소리 △음성의 맛 △음성의 책 △음성의 이야기로 구성해, 관람객은 음성의 과거와 현재를 넘나들며 음성의 옛 문화와 오늘의 삶을 비교, 체험해 볼 수 있다. 

행사 첫째 날에는 주무대에서 음성의 주요 농산물인 음성청결고춧가루로 만든 고추장 떡볶이 나눔행사가 열리고, 거북놀이보존회 주관으로 ‘음성거북놀이 재현’ 행사가 펼쳐진다. 또 개막식에서는 거북놀이를 주제로 한 공연과 초대 가수 박군, 강진이 출연해 열띤 무대를 선보인다. 연계 행사로 음성군편 KBS전국노래자랑 본선 녹화가 오후 2시부터 음성종합운동장에서 흥겨운 볼거리를 제공한다.

둘째 날에는 음성향교 성균관 청년유도회 음성군지부 주관으로 모집신청에 선정된 예비부부 1쌍이 주무대에서 전통혼례식을 치른다. 전통 민속놀이 경연 ‘내 고장을 알려라’에서는 논매는 소리, 손모내기, 각골줄다리기, 상여소리 등을 재현하며, 지역의 전통 무형유산의 가치를 되새기고 고유의 민속문화를 발굴· 계승하는 프로그램을 마련했다. 이날 초대 가수 축하공연은 요요미, 이찬원이 무대를 장식한다.

염계달 중고제 전국 판소리 한마당에서는 염경애, 왕기철, 조주선, 정회석 명창과 ‘2024 중고제 전국 판소리 경연대회’ 대상팀, 어린이 합창단의 판소리 공연이 펼쳐진다. 아울러 음성명품 작물과 염계달 명창의 이야기를 음성품바 선율로 작곡한 ‘음성찬가’를 공연자와 참가자의 대합창으로 설성문화제의 피날레를 장식한다. 

설성문화제와 연계한 특별 프로그램도 마련했다. 26일부터 29일까지 음성종합운동장 일대에서 진행하는 제18회 충북우수시장박람회에서는 충북 30개 전통시장의 우수 상품과 농특산물을 판매한다. 

이외에도 음성 책(Book) 축제에서는 1인 3권까지 무료로 교환해 주는 새 책 교환 행사, 우드·압화 책갈피, 독서무드등, 전통 책 만들기, ‘음성의 책’ 선정도서 전시, ‘책더미 속 거돌이를 찾아라’, ‘거북이 꽃이 피었습니다’ 등 풍성한 이벤트를 마련했다.

조병옥 군수는 “설성문화제에서 시원한 가을 날씨를 만끽하며 가족, 친구, 연인과 함께 우리 고장의 수준 높은 전통문화를 감상하시길 바란다”고 말했다.
