옥천군 마을공동체 활동지원사업이 2022년 첫 사업을 시작한 이래, 사업에 참여한 마을공동체인 ‘석화리마을회’와 ‘옥천군 마을관리사회적협동조합 이음’이 지난달 10일 충청북도가 개최한 ‘2024년 지역공동체 우수사례 발표대회’에서 모두 우수상을 수상하고, 상금 각 2백만 원을 받으며, 대외적인 성과를 거뒀다.

이에, 군은 지난 2일 옥천군청 대회의실에서 수상 공동체 대표(석화리 이장 임덕현, 이음 대표 임수정)에게 상장을 전수하는 자리를 가졌다.

군에 따르면, 이번 발표대회는 도내 10개 팀이 참여한 가운데 6개 팀을 선정했는데, 올해 처음으로 출전한 2개 공동체 모두 수상을 하게 돼 뿌듯하고 특히나 “마을공동체 활동지원사업을 통한 활동이 우수하게 평가돼 사업을 추진한 보람을 느꼈다”고 전했다.

옥천군이 지원하는 마을공동체 활동지원사업은 마을공동체가 지역자원을 활용해 지역문제를 해결하거나 마을의 경제‧사회‧문화적 발전을 도모하며 자발적으로 추진하는 활동을 지원하는 사업으로 올해는 12개(1단계 7개소, 2단계 2개소) 공동체를 선정해 1억 2천만 원을 지원했다.

이번에 수상한 ‘석화리 마을회’는 2023년도 2단계 사업에 참여해 2천만 원을 지원받아, ‘마을 밀밭조성’ 및 ‘마을공동급식’ 운영을 통해 공동체 활동의 기반을 다졌고,

‘옥천군마을관리사회적협동조합 이음’은 2024년 1단계 사업에 선정돼 9백만 원을 지원받아 매월 1회 ‘줍깅(걷거나 뛰면서 길거리 쓰레기를 줍는 봉사활동)’과 상‧하반기 ‘이음상회(중고물품 거래장터, 친환경 농산물 및 물품판매)’ 및 ‘자원순환 주민역량강화 교육’을 통해 환경을 지키는 공동체 활동을 추진하며 주민들에게 많은 호응을 얻고 있다.

황규철 옥천군수는 “우리 지역의 공동체 활동이 우수한 평가를 받게 돼 기쁘고, 마을공동체 발굴과 활동 지원을 위해 옥천군과 함께 발로 뛰는 옥천군마을공동체지원센터에도 감사드린다”고 전했다.

옥천군은 오는 12월 4일 12개 마을공동체가 모여, 올해 활동을 공유하고 정보를 교환하는 ‘성과공유회’를 개최할 예정이다.
