【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=충북 증평군은 연탄지구(연탄1리, 연탄4리)가 충북에서 유일하게 농림축산식품부의 2025년 농촌공간정비 사업지로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

농촌공간정비사업은 마을 인근 난개발로 인한 정주환경·삶의 질을 악화시키는 악취·소음, 오염물질을 유발하는 난개발 시설을 농촌공간계획에 따라 정비하거나 철거·이전하고 그 자리에 주민 쉼터나 생활시설을 조성하는 것이다.

증평 연탄지구는 올해부터 2027년까지 총 3년간 180억원(국비 90억원, 지방비 90억원)을 투입해 3.59㎢ 정비지구내 10,601㎡ 정비대상시설을 철거하는 것으로 축사 15개(50동), 빈창고 7개 등을 철거하게 된다.

정비된 자리에는 건강누리마당(운동시설)과 여울마당(정원 및 텃밭 등)이 조성되 주민들의 삶의 질 향상에 크게 기여가 될 것으로 본다.

특히 연탄리 마을과 인접해 있는 축사와 운영이 되지 않는 장기방치 축사로 인해 악취 및 미관저해에 관한 민원이 지속적으로 제기돼왔다.이에 따라 연탄리 마을 주민들은 이번 농촌공간정비 사업지로 선정됨에 따라 축사 악취가 사라지고 미관이 개선 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

증평군 관계자는 "연탄지구 농촌공간정비 사업은 올해 기본계획 수립 후 내년부터 본격적인 사업이 시행될 예정이다. 그동안 악취, 미관저해 등으로 힘들어했던 주민에게는 만족감이 높은 사업이 될 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
