이번 클리닉에 참여하는 군민들은 금연 전문가와 상담할 수 있으며 전문적인 금연 교육과 니코틴 의존도 평가, 금단현상 대처 방법 안내, 금연 보조제 등을 지원받는다. 

옥천군민(거주자 및 직장인 포함) 중 금연 희망자 누구나 가능하며 이전에 금연 등록을 했으나 금연에 실패한 흡연자도 재등록하여 지원받을 수 있다.

또한, 동기부여를 위해 금연 클리닉 등록 후 4주·6주·12주·24주 동안 금연을 유지하면 소정의 상품도 제공한다.

운영시간은 평일 오전 9시~오후 6시까지이나 바쁜 직장생활과 학업 등으로 보건소 방문이 어려운 분들을 위해‘찾아가는 이동 금연클리닉’도 운영할 계획이다.

한편, 보건소는 공중이용시설 등과 같은 금연시설과 금연구역의 쾌적한 공간 조성을 위해 「옥천군 금연환경 조성 및 간접흡연 피해방지」 조례를 제정하는 등 제반 사항 정비에도 박차를 가하고 있다.
