【충북 브레이크뉴스】임창용 기자=충주시가 대한민국 유일한 국가무형유산이자 유네스코 인류무형문화유산으로 등재된 전통 무예 택견을 세계에 널리 알리기 위해 힘쓰고 있다.

시는 택견의 본고장으로서 택견의 보급과 계승에 앞장서고 있으며, 충주 시민의 여가선용과 전통문화 향유를 위해 ‘2025년 상반기 충주 시민 택견학교’를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

충주시민 택견학교는 2008년부터 시작돼 18년째 운영되고 있는 택견원의 대표 강좌로, 많은 시민에게 사랑 받아온 프로그램이다.

이번 과정은 월~목요일 오후 7시 30분부터 한 시간 동안 매주 4일 운영되는데, 초급반(월, 수/모집인원 30명), 중급반(화, 목/모집인원 30명)으로 나누어 운영되며 택견원 수련장에서 진행된다.

17세 이상 충주시민이면 누구나 충주시 택견원 누리집에서 신청할 수 있으며 홈페이지 신청이 어려운 경우, 방문 접수나 전화 접수도 가능하다.

신청 기간은 오는 28일까지로, 운영 기간은 3월 10일부터 6월 27일까지 총 16주 과정이다. 

택견 강좌 등록비는 5만 원이며 수강자에게는 택견 전수복과 택견 교본을 증정하고, 교육과정을 수료하면 충주시장 명의의 수료증이 발급된다.

교육과정은 택견 생활체조를 비롯해 택견 기술 중 배우기 쉽고 시민의 건강증진에도 도움이 되는 프로그램으로 구성되어 있으며, 충주 시립 택견 단원들이 직접 지도할 예정이다.

시 관계자는 “택견의 본고장 충주에서 시민들이 전통 무예를 배우고 즐길 수 있도록 기회를 마련했다”라며 “많은 시민이 참여해 건강과 전통문화를 함께 누리길 바란다”라고 말했다.
