시는 올해 총 68억 5천만 원의 예산을 10일부터 수소 전기자동차 지원신청을 접수하며, 예산 소진 시까지 차량 출고 순으로 보조금을 지급할 계획이다.

지원 금액은 수소 전기자동차 1대당 3,350만 원(승용 기준)이며 지원 대상은 구매신청서 접수일 기준 3개월 이전부터 연속해 충주시에 주소를 둔 만 18세 이상 시민 또는 충주시 내 사업장이 있는 기업, 법인 등이다.

구매지원을 희망하는 시민은 차량 제조·수입사와 구매 계약을 체결하고, 차량 제조ㆍ수입사를 통해 구매보조금 시스템에서 보조금 지원신청을 진행하면 된다.

수소 전기자동차는 환경친화적이며 충전 시간이 짧고 주행거리가 긴 장점이 있어 전기차와 함께 내연기관 자동차를 대체하는 차세대 교통수단으로 주목받고 있다.
