청주대는 올해 과학기술정보통신부와 정보통신기획평가원(IITP)의 공모사업인 ‘SW중심대학’으로 신규 선정되는 쾌거를 달성했다. 전국에서 총 8개의 ‘SW중심대학(일반트랙)’이 선정됐는데, 충북지역에서는 청주대가 유일하다.

청주대는 ‘SW중심대학’ 선정을 계기로 10일 김윤배 총장, 충청북도 김영환 도지사, 이범석 청주시장, 송기섭 진천군수, 김선희 증평부군수, 유관기관, 산학협력 기업 대표, 교수와 학생 등 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 학내 융합관에서 ‘SW중심대학’ 비전선포식 등을 진행했다.

김윤배 총장은 환영사에서 “청주대학교가 ‘SW중심대학’으로 새롭게 출발하게 된 것은 지역과 국가의 미래를 함께 열어가는 중요한 계기”라며 “AI와 빅데이터 등 디지털 핵심기술과 융합한 실무 중심 교육으로 지역 산업 발전에 기여하고, 차세대 인재 양성에 박차를 가하겠다”고 밝혔다.

김영환 충북도지사는 “나라의 운명은 하드웨어에 있지 않고 소프트웨어에 있다”며 “앞으로 전 세계는 SW 중심의 기술과 창업이 9할, 하드웨어가 1할로, 청주대가 충북의 교육을 선도하고 인재를 길러내는 대학으로 더욱 도약하는 계기가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.

이범석 청주시장은 “청주대가 SW중심대학에 선정된 것을 축하드린다”며 “치열한 경쟁 끝에 청주대가 충북에서 유일하게 선정된 것은 지역의 자랑”이라고 강조했다.

송재봉 국회의원(민주당, 청주 청원)은 축전을 통해 “이제 청주대가 SW중심대학 선정을 계기로 지역의 핵심산업과 연계한 실무 중심의 융합 교육을 통해 우수 인재 배출의 요람이 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

청주대는 이날 ‘SW중심대학’ 사업계획 비전선포와 발표를 통해 △전공·비전공 SW교육 강화 △인턴십 추진 △창의융합 캡스톤디자인 운영 △지역사회 연계 프로젝트 활성화 등 세부 추진 전략을 소개했다.

또한 이번 발대식에서는 청주대 ‘SW중심대학’ 선정에 기여한 분들에게 감사패가 수여된 가운데 앞으로 지속적인 산학협력 강화와 공동 프로젝트 추진 의지를 다짐했다.

이와 함께 참석자들은 ‘AI·SW융합대학’의 새 출발을 기념하는 현판식을 갖고, 청주대가 충북도내에서 AI·SW중심의 글로벌 명문사학으로 도약할 수 있는 기틀 마련을 축하했다.
