  충북은 의료비후불제를 통해 치료 접근성을 확대해 왔으나, 신용 문제로 대출이 제한된 도민은 여전히 의료비 부담에서 벗어나지 못해 실질적인 지원 대책 마련이 꾸준히 요구되어 왔다.

  협약에 따라 충북도는 이자 지원 재원을 부담하고, 서민금융진흥원은 자금 심사·대출 집행·이자 정산 등 실무 전반을 담당하게 된다.

  지원 대상은 금융기관 연체채권 보유자, 신용정보 불량자, 체납정보 보유자 등 신용 문제로 의료비후불제 혜택을 받지 못하는 도민이며, 의료비 용도로 서민금융진흥원의 ‘불법사금융예방대출(최대 100만원)’을 이용할 경우 이자비용 전액을 지원받을 수 있다.

  충북도는 2026년 한 해 동안 총 500명을 지원하는 시범 사업을 추진할 계획이며, 총예산은 87,450천원 규모로 사업 성과 분석 후 확대 여부를 검토할 계획이다.

  이번 사업 시행으로 의료비 마련 부담이 큰 고령자 및 저소득층뿐만 아니라 경제적 취약계층의 치료 접근성이 크게 개선될 것으로 기대된다.

  김영환 지사는 “경제적 사정 때문에 치료를 미루거나 포기하는 일이 더 이상 있어서는 안 된다”며 “충북도는 누구도 의료에서 소외되지 않는 촘촘한 의료안전망을 구축해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
