KBIOHealth Introduces 'AI & Digital Twin Convergence VR Education' to Innovate Bio Talent Cultivation
The Osong Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation (KBIOHealth) is embarking on the establishment of a VR (Virtual Reality) education system that combines AI tutoring and digital twin technology, becoming the first public educational institution in Korea to do so.
KBIOHealth announced that, with support from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, it has begun developing "immersive VR educational content" that will set a standard for advanced bio manufacturing process education. The core of this project is to move away from traditional theory-based lectures and establish an "immersive education system" where trainees can practice directly and receive immediate feedback in a virtual space identical to the actual process environment.
The content being developed consists of an AI tutoring-based learning system, digital twin process reproduction, and an AR/VR multi-user collaboration environment.
The most notable feature is "AI tutoring." Rather than following a standardized curriculum, AI analyzes the learner's performance in real-time to provide customized feedback, thereby inducing active learning. In addition, bio manufacturing processes have been precisely recreated in a virtual environment using 'digital twin' technology, and there are plans to further advance this to the point where process status can be analyzed and managed in conjunction with real-time sensor data.
An environment is also being established that allows multiple learners from a distance to connect and collaborate simultaneously. Instructors can manage learner data in real-time within the virtual space, enabling efficient educational operations.
Kang Gil-tae, Acting Director of KBIOHealth, emphasized, "This project holds great significance in that it establishes a platform capable of actual educational operations, going beyond mere experiential learning. Through education incorporating cutting-edge technology, we aim to cultivate specialized personnel who can be immediately deployed to the bio industry."
Meanwhile, to immediately apply this educational content to the field, KBIOHealth will open the 'K-BIO Training Center (tentative name),' the nation's first public training center specializing in biohealth, this coming September. Once fully operational, the center is expected to serve as a key hub for fostering bio-industry talent in Korea.
