올해 전기차 구매 희망자가 급증하면서 당초 확보했던 전기승용차 1천200대와 전기화물차 202대 등 총 119억 원 규모의 보급 물량이 조기에 마감됐다.

이에 따라 시는 10억 원의 예산을 추가로 편성하고 전기승용차 100대와 전기화물차 21대 등 총 121대를 대상으로 추가 보조금을 지급하기로 결정했다.

신청 접수는 오는 9월 14일부터 시작된다. 접수 창구 혼잡을 막기 위해 전기승용차는 오전 9시부터, 전기화물차는 오후 2시부터 순차적으로 신청을 받는다.

지원 대상은 신청일 기준으로 제천시에 3개월 이상 연속하여 주소지를 둔 만 18세 이상 주민과 지역 내 소재한 기업 및 법인이다. 보조금을 받으려면 자동차 제작·수입사와 구매 계약을 체결한 뒤 무공해차 구매보조금 지원시스템을 통해 신청 절차를 밟아야 한다.
