【충북 브레이크뉴스】김봉수 기자=진천군의회가 농인과 수어 사용자의 의정 정보 접근권을 대폭 확대하고 소통의 장벽을 낮추기 위해 본회의 수어통역 서비스를 본격 시행한다.

진천군의회는 진천군수어통역센터와 ‘진천군의회 본회의 수어통역 서비스 제공을 위한 업무협약’을 체결하고 본격적인 협력 체계 구축에 나섰다. 이번 협약은 군의회 주요 의정활동을 수어로 실시간 전달하여 농인과 수어 사용자가 군정 현안을 보다 용이하게 파악할 수 있도록 돕고, 장애 유무와 관계없이 군민 누구나 의정 참여가 가능한 포용적 의정 환경을 마련하기 위해 추진됐다.

수어통역 서비스는 오는 9월 8일 개회하는 제340회 진천군의회 정례회 본회의부터 현장에 즉시 적용된다. 의회는 향후 개최될 제341회 임시회를 비롯해 앞으로의 모든 본회의에서도 수어통역을 지속 제공함으로써 정보 소외 계층의 알 권리를 보장하고 의정 참여 기회를 한층 넓혀갈 계획이다.

The Jincheon County Council has signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for the Provision of Sign Language Interpretation Services for Jincheon County Council Plenary Sessions" with the Jincheon County Sign Language Interpretation Center and has set out to establish a full-scale cooperative framework. This agreement was pursued to help the deaf and sign language users more easily grasp current county administrative issues by delivering the Council's key legislative activities in sign language in real time, and to create an inclusive legislative environment where any county resident can participate in legislative affairs regardless of disability.

The sign language interpretation service will be immediately applied on-site starting with the plenary session of the 340th regular session of the Jincheon County Council, which opens on September 8.
