충북도의회는 이상식 충북도의회 의장이 3일 도의회에서 중부·경부고속도로 확장 범도민 서명운동 릴레이 챌린지에 공식 동참했다고 밝혔다. 이번 릴레이 챌린지는 충북도지사를 시작으로 충북도의회 의장을 비롯해 관내 지자체장, 국회의원, 주요 기관장들이 순차적으로 참여하며 열기를 더하고 있다.

이번 서명운동은 한국개발연구원이 중부고속도로 증평~호법 54.2㎞ 구간과 경부고속도로 회덕~청주 18.9㎞ 구간의 예비타당성조사, 중부고속도로 서청주~증평 15.8㎞ 구간의 타당성재조사에 착수함에 따라 도민의 강력한 추진 의지를 전달하기 위해 기획됐다.

오는 10월 말까지 온·오프라인으로 진행되는 이번 서명운동의 최종 결과는 기획예산처와 한국개발연구원에 전달되어 정책적 타당성 평가에서 긍정적인 요소로 활용될 예정이다.

이날 서명운동에 동참한 충북도의회 관계자는 중부·경부고속도로 확장은 지난 20년간 지연되어 온 도민의 숙원사업이자 국가 간선도로망의 기능을 회복하기 위한 핵심 과제라며, 의회 차원에서도 사업이 조속히 결실을 볼 수 있도록 모든 역량을 집결할 테니 도민들의 지속적인 관심과 적극적인 참여를 부탁한다고 전했다.
