Korea National University of Transportation Operates ‘Open Campus’ to Help Local High School Students Explore Careers and Plan Their College Admissions
Korea National University of Transportation successfully held the ‘High School Student Invitation Open Campus’ program at its Chungju Campus, targeting high school students in North Chungcheong Province.
Approximately 1,400 high school students and teachers from the North Chungcheong region participated in this event, which was organized as part of the University Support Project for Contributing to High School Education. A large number of 28 departments and majors, including the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as related departments, participated to provide diverse major experiences and precise college admission information, offering multifaceted support for students’ career exploration and college planning.
Participating students enhanced their understanding of career paths by touring the actual curriculums of departments they were interested in and engaging in hands-on practice in their respective fields. In addition, the university’s Admissions Office received a positive response by operating a one-on-one customized admissions counseling service, providing practical, tailored information for prospective students, such as an analysis of the previous year's admissions results, major changes to the 2027 admissions process, and strategies for the Comprehensive Student Record Screening. Lee Kyung-joo, Director of Admissions at Korea National University of Transportation, expressed his hope that this Open Campus would serve as a meaningful opportunity for youth to directly experience departments and majors of interest and to concretize their career and college paths. He also stated that the university would continue to develop educational programs to assist local high school students in planning their careers and college admissions from various angles.
Meanwhile, Korea National University of Transportation operates a diverse curriculum throughout the year, including the Open Campus, special lectures on majors, university student mentoring, high school visits, and university-invited major experience programs, to fully support youth in exploring career and college paths.
