Chungbuk National University expands all face-to-face classes in the second semester

Safety first, class operation plan announced

-im changyong reporter

Chungbuk National University (President Kim Su-gap) announced that it will expand face-to-face classes from the second semester of 2021 in order to protect students safely and provide quality classes while the spread of COVID-19 continues.

Chungbuk National University has operated non-face-to-face classes as a rule, and only some classes, such as lab lessons, have been operated face-to-face. Accordingly, Chungbuk National University plans to expand all face-to-face classes in the second semester of 2021 to provide high-quality classes while protecting students from infection safely, and to provide various parallel class plans to allow only some non face-to-face remote classes.

Chungbuk National University has decided to apply the face-to-face class principle when the number of students is less than 50% of the class capacity. In addition, in order to enhance the sense of belonging and understanding of college life of the first and second graders, the basic liberal arts courses for Reformation, which are the main courses for the lower grades, are placed in a large classroom where all subjects (150 subjects) can be kept at a distance, and face-to-face classes are conducted. do.

It is possible to conduct face-to-face and non-face-to-face classes at the same time to disperse the density in the classroom. On the other hand, non-face-to-face classes are only partially allowed. Non-face-to-face classes are possible when the number of students exceeds 50% of the class capacity. However, if face-to-face classes are unavoidable, face-to-face or parallel classes are possible if all students agree.

In addition, a real-time live broadcasting system is established in some classrooms. Through this, in the case of large lectures that cannot be conducted face-to-face because the number of students exceeds 50% of the class capacity, some students will be able to attend face-to-face in the classroom, and others will be able to take it non-face-to-face through ZOOM.

In addition, considering the current spread of COVID-19, it is difficult to conduct perfect face-to-face classes as in the pre-COVID situation, so it is decided to extend the relaxed grading standards only for the second semester of 2021.

Kim Su-gap, President of Chungbuk National University, said, “It is unfortunate that there are many students who have not been able to come to campus as non-face-to-face classes are continuing due to the prolonged COVID-19. From this second semester, face-to-face classes will be expanded to improve the quality of classes, and at the same time, we will take the lead in creating a safe academic atmosphere by continuously strengthening quarantine measures against COVID-19.”
