충주시는 지난 28일 농업인 온열질환 예방요원 발대식을 개최하고, 농업인 학습단체의 선도농업인 16명을 예방요원으로 위촉했다. 이번 발대식은 여름철 폭염 속에서 발생할 수 있는 안전사고를 막고 농작업 현장 안전수칙을 철저히 전파하기 위해 마련됐다.

위촉된 온열질환 예방요원들은 오는 6월부터 본격적인 활동에 들어간다. 이들은 농작업 현장과 마을 공동이용시설을 직접 방문해 고령 농업인 등 온열질환에 취약한 농업인 1,200명을 대상으로 집중적인 예방 활동을 펼칠 예정이다.

주요 활동으로는 온열질환 예방 및 충분한 휴식 수칙 안내, 체감온도 등 기상 정보 확인법 홍보, 응급상황 발생 시 대처 요령 안내 등 현장에서 실질적으로 필요한 안전 대책 전파가 이루어진다.
