군은 지난달 29일 라오스 국적의 외국인 계절근로자 30명이 김해공항을 통해 입국했다고 밝혔다. 이번에 입국한 인력은 단양군이 지난해 라오스 정부와 외국인 계절근로자 도입을 위한 업무협약(MOU)을 체결한 이후 처음으로 현장에 투입되는 공공형 계절근로자들이다.

근로자들은 입국 당일 단양군 보건의료원에서 마약검사와 보건증 신청 절차를 마쳤으며, 매포읍 농업인복지회관으로 이동해 근로계약 체결과 안전보건 및 준수사항 교육을 이수했다. 이후 단양·북단양·소백 등 지정된 지역별 숙소로 이동해 영농활동을 위한 준비를 끝마쳤다.

농림축산식품부 공모사업 선정으로 추진되는 이번 사업에는 총사업비 9,000만 원이 투입된다. 사업 운영 총괄은 단고을조합공동사업법인이 맡고 단양농협, 북단양농협, 소백농협 등 지역농협 3개소가 공동 참여해 근로자 숙소 관리와 현장 배치를 지원한다.

이에 따라 장기 고용이 어려운 농가도 필요한 시기에 안정적으로 인력을 지원받을 수 있게 됐다. 농가가 지불하는 이용요금은 근로자 1인 기준 하루 10만 원 수준으로 책정됐다.

단양군은 사업의 안정적인 정착을 위해 작업반장 3명을 별도로 배치하고, 근로자들의 출퇴근 관리와 숙소 생활 지원, 농가별 배치 등을 체계적으로 밀착 관리할 방침이다.
