협의체는 의료 접근성이 취약한 농촌 지역 어르신들이 보다 안전하고 편리하게 의료기관을 이용할 수 있도록 돕는 ‘병원동행 매니저 사업’을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 단양군이 초고령 사회에 진입함에 따라 면 단위 지역에 거주하는 어르신들의 이동 수단 부족과 의료기관 접근성 저하 문제를 근본적으로 해결하기 위해 마련됐다. 이를 위해 협의체는 지역 어르신들의 실질적인 복지 수요를 꼼꼼히 파악하고, 전국 단위 사업 공모에 직접 뛰어들어 관련 사업비를 확보하는 결실을 맺었다.
