지난 5월 22일 열린 이번 협약식은 의과대학 학생들의 체계적인 임상실습 기회를 확대하고, 지역사회가 필요로 하는 의료인력을 체계적으로 길러내기 위해 마련됐다. 양 기관은 학생 임상실습 운영은 물론, 교육·연구 협력과 지역 공공보건의료 교육 지원 등 다양한 분야에서 상호 협력해 나가기로 했다.

협약에 따라 단양군보건의료원은 학생 임상실습에 필요한 교육환경과 실습 기회를 제공하고 지도·평가를 지원한다. 충북대 의과대학은 학생들의 실습 참여와 기관 규정 준수를 지도하며, 지역 공공의료 현장과 연계한 교육이 실질적으로 이뤄질 수 있도록 적극 협력할 방침이다.
