이번 사업은 학생들이 고등학교 진학 전 자신의 적성과 흥미를 조기에 발견하고 미래 경쟁력을 갖춘 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 마련됐다.

지원 대상은 충주시에 주민등록을 둔 중학교 1~3학년 재학생이며, 학교 밖 청소년도 동일한 연령 기준을 충족하면 지원받을 수 있다. 지원 금액은 학년에 따라 차등 지급된다. 1학년은 월 6만 원, 2·3학년은 월 7만 원이 충주사랑상품권 정책수당 카드에 매월 충전되는 방식으로 지급된다. 올해 지급된 지원금은 12월 31일까지 사용해야 한다.
